Gold Seen Dropping by Citigroup, Morgan Stanley on Fed Taper

Gold will extend losses as the U.S. economy improves, according to Citigroup Inc. and Morgan Stanley, which said the Federal Reserve’s surprise decision to hold stimulus for now will help prices only in the short term.

Bullion may drop below $1,250 an ounce before the end of the year as economic data strengthens and investors expect the Fed to start reducing its asset purchases, Citigroup analysts Ed Morse and Heath Jansen said in a report today. Bullion will average $1,250 next year, down from $1,405 in 2013, they wrote. Morgan Stanley expects bullion to average $1,200 to $1,350 in the coming year before trending lower, it said in a report.

The metal is heading for the first annual drop in 13 years as signs of a U.S. recovery hurt gold demand while stocks and the dollar climb. Gold advanced on Sept. 18 after the Federal Open Market Committee refrained from paring stimulus, counter to economists’ expectations for a reduction. The rally prompted Societe Generale SA to advise selling the metal.

“The postponement of the tapering decision by the FOMC represents only a short-term reprieve for gold,” the Citigroup analysts wrote. “Does this mean the end of the downtrend in gold? In our view, the fundamental and clear answer is no.”

The Fed said on Sept. 18 that policy makers need to see more signs of labor-market gains before reducing its $85 billion of monthly asset purchases. Gold jumped 4.1 percent in London that day, the most in 15 months.

Waning Appetite

“The postponement is only delaying the inevitable,” Morgan Stanley analysts including Peter Richardson said in their report. “The longer-term narrative for gold remains in place — waning investor appetite for a risk and inflation hedge, challenged physical demand and a rising U.S. dollar.”

Gold for immediate delivery declined 0.3 percent to $1,322.56 by 1:12 p.m. in London. The precious metal tumbled 21 percent this year as the Bloomberg U.S. Dollar Index gained 2.6 percent and global stocks climbed 14 percent.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. advised investors to buy gold on a higher risk of inflation after the Fed’s decision last week, according to a note on Sept. 20. There is strong retail gold demand in Asia, JPMorgan said.

Bullion rose 70 percent from December 2008 to June 2011 as the U.S. central bank pumped more than $2 trillion into the financial system by buying debt, increasing concern that the dollar will be debased. Fed Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard said Sept. 20 that a small taper may occur next month.

ETP Holdings

Citigroup’s annual forecasts for gold were revised higher from $1,358 for 2013 and $1,145 for next year, according to its report. The delay in tapering may prompt a temporary rise in holdings in exchange-traded products, the analysts said.

Gold held in ETPs dropped last week even after U.S. stimulus was maintained, declining 0.4 percent to 1,933.1 metric tons, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Holdings are at the lowest in more than three years. Fed Chairman Ben S. Bernanke said there is no set timetable for tapering.

“We maintain a fairly pessimistic outlook for gold as a result of the increased probability of a timetable for the ending of QE,” Morgan Stanley’s analysts wrote, referring to quantitative easing. “Our price profile now acknowledges that the annual average peak in the price of gold was achieved in 2012 with minimal prospect for recovery.”

Time to Dust Off the Loss

Time to dust off the loss that the Texans gave us yesterday and shake it off! No matter how well or poorly the game is played, you know that next week, there’s another game to play and you will have to bring your A game! The losses we take also give us lessons that we need to learn, in order to make our game better for the next time we play.

Houston Texans

What makes a great team? Simply put, each piece of the team is a body part. Each are important to the success of the whole body. While it’s true that you can lose some parts, the loss of those parts do have an impact of the successes or failures of your live. Example; when you  lose your sight, it has an immediate impact on your senses. The adjustment the body makes to compensate the loss is incredible. You hearing amplifies and becomes more acutely tuned into things that you ignored in the past. while the loss of sight is tremendous for those who had it to lose, for those born without the ability to see, their way of life is completely different.

What does this have to do with gold? Well, when we purchase jewelry, we do it for a few reasons. We fall in love with the item and think it’s pretty or we buy it for our own vanity. While nothing is wrong with these choices, there is a common theme with both choices. They both involve an emotional determination. While people invest in gold as a reserve, they’re looking at the long term potential value for the metals.

TRADE FOR CASH JEWELRY

Now what do you do with the items that came to you as a result of an emotional decision? Is now the time to cash in on your investments in gold, silver and platinum? Time to get rational about things. If the items no longer have an emotional tie to you, then, today is a GREAT day to bring them into me! If the items have since broken, again, a GREAT day to bring them to me! Gold will always be an evolving factor when it comes to its price and today is  GREAT day to cash it in!

Now today is football day! What team are you cheering for? Do you have a favorite? College or NFL? With the season in the early stages, there’s still time for your team to exceed your expectations. With many games to watch, but so little time, I know it’s hard to tear yourself away. But, if by doing so you can you gain some extra money without doing anything but bringing in your old gold, silver and platinum items, resistance should be futile! Listen,  I open at 11am which is enough time to come out and get this little honey do item out of the way!

Let’s Exercise Our Wallets

Let’s exercise our wallets and bulk them up! It’s so simple that it only requires a little time from you. There are many places to ‘exercise’ but I have a suggestion. Let’s start in the bedroom! There are closets of old things, some may be of value to me, but not to you! You’re jewelry boxes are in there. Not to mention armoire that may have some areas that you could keep gold, silver and platinum!

Let’s move around to the formal dining room. In here you have your china cabinet that could also hold the old silverware that nobody uses. It’s pretty, but to use it is such a hassle that unless you live in Downton Abbey, YOU are the staff that has to clean and polish these items all the time!

formal dining room DowntonAbbey

Now the attic may have  a world of left over items that you put up there to get out of the way. hen was the last time you were up there? Do you even know what’s up there? By clearing out some of the old stuff you may find some items that you haven’t seen since before you even moved into the home! As people have gone through these items, they tend to find long forgotten items that you know that you haven’t worn. Why not turn them into cash!

Now gather everything together and bring them in to 1217 Loop 336 N., Conroe right next to Hobby Lobby! Imagine all the extra money you have just laying around collecting dust! The Fundamentals

”The fundamentals in the US and the world are enough to turn your hair gray. Debt worldwide is out of control. Total debt to GDP in most countries in the world is at a mind-blowing 300-400%. It’s obvious that this debt will never be repaid. As the US continues to grow, it is forced to borrow more money. The Fed now owns $2.2 trillion in federal debt. This year, in 2013, the Fed has purchased more debt than the Treasury has issued. I could go on and on about the horrors of the debt situation. But remember, the market is not stupid. It contains all the information known to everybody. This is the reason that I follow the markets so closely. If we are heading into a brick wall, the market will know it and reflect it.

GBX_LINE_365DAY_BIG

Yesterday I described the magic of compounding, as practiced by Warren Buffett. Compounding assets may be the only way for investors to survive under current low interest rate conditions. The common man has run into a brick wall as far as income is concerned.

Ultimately the nation is caught in a vicious vice in which it must borrow more and more to sustain itself. The question now is not how to generate income but where to find the safe zone.

When looking for safety investors normally make a dash for cash. But with the Fed creating cash wholesale, the future of the dollar is in question. As the purchasing power of the dollar declines, gold comes to the fore. I see the action of gold as representing an ever expanding base. JP Morgan currently has a large position in gold. My advice — follow the big money. And there is no bigger money than JP Morgan.” Dow Theory Letters, by Richard Russell

Summer Is Almost Over But Fall Brings So Much Color

Summer is almost over but fall brings so much color! While our fall clothing may be filled with many warm colors and tones, it’s also a great time to go through all the different accessories that you have and see what works and what doesn’t! Once you see what doesn’t work, determine whether you want to allow these items to take up space in your jewelry box.

FA13-Ladies-Cool-Colors-1

Here comes the fun and the exciting part! By clearing out your old or unwanted gold, silver and platinum, you can make room for the NEW accessories you can buy with the money you’ll get from me!

You don’t have to stop at your accessories! Many people have had items handed down to them that they have no use for and/or would never use. Instead of wondering where you can put it, why not bring them in to me. I’m speaking of silverware, sterling service sets, sterling platters and dining accessories.

Let’s not forget about the unusual or eve embarrassing items that are made out of gold, silver over platinum. I’ve had gold teeth, razors, eye glasses, purses, lighters, candle holders, napkin rings and pens come into my store. I’ve had silver mirrors, bullets (yes, you read that right), tiaras, goblets and plates come in. I’ve had platinum fingernails and watches come in. As you can see, as long as the items are made out of gold, silver and platinum, I will buy them from you, thus giving you the extra money to spend on whatever you like!

A Theory That Could Hold Some Truth

A theory that could hold some truth

Some have attributed the gold price rally to the Federal Reserve’s expanding balance sheet. Other have argued that it was driven by increasing investor accessibility thanks to the advent of commodity ETFs.

Jeffrey Gundlach, the bond king behind DoubleLine Funds, offered an alternative take.

Here’s an interesting chart overlaying gold prices and home prices.

“When home prices were falling, that’s exactly when gold went on its monster rally higher,” he said.

The pattern represents investors’ struggle to seek a safe haven to store and preserve wealth.

With home prices now on an upward trend, real estate has become a viable competitor to gold, explained Gundlach.

Although you have no control on these types of events, you do, however, have the ability to make extra money by following some simple steps!

First, we all tend to keep things that we have the knowledge of the expense behind. Even if we never use the item, how many times have you come across an item that you haven’t worn but once or twice? Even though you had to have it at the time and the expense could have been significant? Now is the time to cut the ties to these items that no longer serve a purpose in your life and with which you could certainly put the money to good use!

Your path is to clean out these items. Jewelry boxes, closets, buffets, china cabinets, safes or anywhere you have your gold, silver and platinum. Bring it to me at 1217 Loop 336 N., Conroe, TX right next to Hobby Lobby. We’re open 7 days a week,  just for you. Mondays through Saturdays 9am to 7pm Sundays 11am to 5pm. Just ask for Gina!

The Wait and See Game

The wait and see game; doesn’t it get a little frustrating? Or the hurry up and wait game? Not sure which one I dislike he most, but it really doesn’t matter. If you are one of the people who like to play this game, then this post isn’t for you. You see, most people despite the games that are played. They wish people would just be open and honest when it comes to business and life issues. How many times have you been told something in such a round-a-bout way that you lose the context of the conversation and agree with it without even realizing what you agreed to! Such a headache!

Hamster Wheel Runner

Here’s a little relief from that hamster wheel! If you have old, broken, unwanted or unused gold, silver or platinum, I can buy it from you! My goal is to put money in your pocket, not to take advantage of you! There are many other places that you can go to, but no one will treat you with respect, demonstrate incredible knowledge and give you what your items are worth. My customers have seen, with their own eyes, the scams that some other places run on them. It’s a horrible feeling! Yet, when you come in to see me, I take my time with you, making sure that you understand each step of the process and you’re comfortable with your decision. As with buyers remorse, there is sellers remorse and try to I eliminate that by asking about the history of the items and giving you the option to take it back before we conclude the transaction. That might sound crazy, but I’d rather you be happy and at peace with your decision then to make one and not have the ability to correct it!

Happy Labor Day

Happy Labor Day to everyone! Today is a day that all who labor so hard throughout the year, are to relax and enjoy your day off. The labor movement began in the United States around the 1820’s with a textile company (Lowell Mills) that had mostly all women employees. Unions sought to give all employees a safe environment to work in, a reduction in hours per day (from 12 to 10 hours) and wages that were fair to those employees (by collective bargaining). The federal holiday did not come to be until 1894. You don’t have to be a union member in order to enjoy the day off, but you should know how it came to be. At the beginning of the industrial revolution, workers had been put in to some life threatening situations and if a death did occur, there was no recourse for the families that were impacted. Today’s unions are a far cry from the ones from that era. The unions were formed in order to demand that the working conditions be improved or the business owners would risk a walk out and protest of the business. It worked and working conditions began to improve. Businesses had to change the ways that they treated their employees, a minimum standard of pay or wage was introduced and other benefits were give to employees.
